WE THINK: We were skeptical when we discovered that Paradise Dynasty's claim to fame is that the've taken a winning dish (i.e. the Shanghai soup dumpling or xiao long bao) and added fancy stuffing and color to it. Maybe we are boring, but we love the normal pork, or occasionally the pork and crab, soup dumplings (see our favorites here), so we were ready to get annoyed with the "Signature Dynasty Xiao Long Bao", a selection of 8 colorful dumplings which include a yellow cheese(!) dumpling, a green ginseng dumpling and a dark grey black truffle dumpling. Much to our surprise, they were really lovely! (yes--even the--gasp--cheese ones...) The pork, Sichuan, crab roe and foie gras dumplings were positively delicious. The plain pork xiao long bao--probably still our favorite of the lot--was full of delicious broth and the skin was delicate and silky smooth, making it as good as the xiao long bao at our other 2 favorite xiao long bao spots in Singapore: Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao in Takashimaya shopping mall and Din Tai Fung in Paragon shopping mall (in our opinion, the best Din Tai Fung branch outside of Taiwan). We also ordered a delicate pork bone broth la mian noodle soup (the Chinese dish which is the original inspiration for Japanese ramen) with thin, hand-pulled noodles--on its own enough to satisfy us. Finally, we had some incredibly yummy chili wonton and some cold dishes. This ruled!
